# How do I delete a chat/group/channel?

Note: Only **Owners** and **Moderators** can delete a chat. Please be careful when doing this as it is *irreversible* and cannot be recovered once deleted!

If the chat is not active currently but may be active or used again in the future, it may be more suitable to simply archive it! (Learn how to archive a chat in [this article](https://helpdesk.heylady.io/en/article/what-are-archived-chats-how-do-i-archive-a-chat-8sk2nv/))

1. Go to [Chat](https://app.heylady.io/chat) and find the chat/group/channel.

2. Click the 3 dots.

3. Click **Delete Chat/Group Chat/Channel.**

4. Click **Delete** to confirm you want to delete it.

If you cannot find the 3 dots inside the chat/channel, another way is from the side panel:

1. Click the 3 dots.

1. Click **Delete Chat/Group Chat/Channel** from the dropdown.
