# What happens after I sign up?

Once you sign up, you'll have immediate access to the platform. You'll need to complete a few simple getting-started steps to understand the basics, help you set up your profile and get verified.

Someone from our team will also reach out, say hello and invite you to join an event in your time zone

To make the most of your 7 day Guest Pass, we recommend using your 3 Starter Events like this:
* **1 x New Member Welcome event:** meet our team, learn how everything works, and get a warm introduction to the community
* **1 x 15 Minutes Daily Speaking Practice event:** a short, friendly session to get you speaking straight away
* **1 x event hosted by our community team or a Big Sister:** Big Sisters are experienced members who volunteer inside *Hey Lady!* and mentor newer members. These events are a great place to get a tour of the platform, have your questions answered, and make sure you feel confident before you start exploring everything else
This gives you the best chance to experience what *Hey Lady!* is really like and helps you decide if you'd like to stay.

**Your first event**
When it's time for your event to start, click the **Join Now** button. Make sure your webcam and microphone are connected and ready - we'll want to see you!
You'll be met by one of our team and introduced to other members straight away. Events are relaxed and friendly, no preparation needed :)  

**After your first event**
If after joining 2 more events during your Guest Pass, *Hey Lady!* feels right for you, you can become a member at any time to get full access to every event on the platform <3
